Floral Comfort

If you decide to substitute the water with Goat’s milk. Please utilize a soap calculator to calculate the proper lye-milk ratio. This will enhance the uniqueness of your soaps.

Base oils (available in our store)

  • 30 oz. Olive oil
  • 20 oz. Coconut oil
  • 40 oz. Palm Kernel oil
  • 4 oz. Castor oil (reserve for adding at trace)
  • 4 oz Mango butter
  • 4 oz. Shea butter
  • 4 oz Apricot Kernel oil

Lye Solution

  • 16.5oz Lye (Sodium Hydroxide)
  • 39oz water

Essential oils (available in our store)

  • 1.5oz Vetiver
  • 1oz Rose Geranium
  • .5oz Ylang Ylang

Measure the water into a heat resistant plastic or glass container (never use aluminum due to chemical reaction). Mix in the Lye with a wooden spoon. Take care not to breath in fumes. The mixture will heat up fast so take care not to get burned. If you should get some of the Lye mixture on you, pour vinegar on the burn immediately to help neutralize the Lye.

When the lye cools down to around 105 °F it is time to heat up the oils in a stainless steel pot. Reserve the castor oil for adding at trace. When the oil mixture and the lye solution are around 98 °F to 100 °F pour the lye mixture into the oils. Using a stick blender mix the soap until at trace. You are at trace when soap running off your spoon stays on top of the soap in the pot for a moment. Mix in the reserved castor oil and essential oils. Pour into your mold. Cover with an old blanket to insulate. In 24 hours un-mold and cut your soap into bars. Yields approximately 31 bars of soap weighing 3.5
